jenn: it is apparently what happens if you have a slightly eccentric white man who discovers that he can build whatever he wants and people will come, and pay him. he goes extravagently mad, but in ways that are, at the same time, curiously banal. the results are fascinating and disturbing, unpredictable and fantastical and shot through with little veins of racism and bizarre sexual and occult subtexts.

j: those were in the vast room of boilers and coils and organ pipes and lamps and knobs and levers, all interconnected with carpeted walkways, none of which had any purpose aside from being.

or perhaps there was a purpose, but one that was simply not obvious to the lay person. perhaps the freemasons know how to work it all...
