(these are from a trip to Costa Rica last year. all taken with my old camera, in our cabana or within twenty yards of it. and yes, they're as big as they look.)
anne: you mean this moth? he's cute... as for their names, the tarantula is Juan. the other ones we didn't really name on the spot, but I'm guessing that, in descending order, they are Lucretia, Gunther, Jefe, and "Little Jake" Crawford.
graymalkin: no, Ungoliant was a little out of frame to the left biting the head off a sheep.
dee: you must not be too much of an arachnophobe if you're still typing. my supervisor has to go to the hospital if she sees a snake. (has seizures and everything.) I have a few really cute snake photos though...
Jenn: I like that one, too. I like his leg warmers especially. for scale, his body was about the size of your little finger.
I hate the buggers. Jenn See told me I shouldn't look, so uh, here I am! =) They are beautiful and highly fascinating but they tend to give me a huge case of the willies. And why is that one walking on a table...
livewire: thanks for stopping by. "that one" is Juan. it's not a table, it's the kitchen counter. and he was walking there b/c the cabana was in the jungle and had no screens or windows. those of you who are Juan fans should check out these two shortvideos I took with the digicam.
I suppose it'd be best if T not look at these. I seem to remember quite a bit of consternation caused by one of those plastic halloween spiders. For what it's worth, the wife thought Ungoliant was the latin name. Nope, just Quenya.

I'd much rather face one of those spiders than jenn see's moth.
Even though the one before last is really quite ugly.
Do you know their names at all?
I think the fourth one down is Ungoliant.
