t: I reckon it's volcanic. I went to look at your Hawaii pics; 1. did they have live montsers in some of those orifice-like holes in the ground? rather looks like it. 2. is that your parka or were you issued it? 3. are those observatories or spaceships or both?
js: graffiti in Japan was largely confined to places where you were clearly allowed to do graffiti. like the seawall, apparently. and the triangular things were actually cement, not cast iron. looked rather like anti-tank barricades, but they might've been just typhoon barriers. according to the head of my karate style (who I visited while I was there), the whole island gets battered with typhoons so regularly that all the buildings are made out of reinforced concrete (like his house).
