the price of freedom
has anyone ever noticed that the golden gate bridge is just standing there like a bowling pin in a room full of third graders, just -waiting- to be knocked down by a sea monster or soviet hovercraft? did it ever occur to you to ask how the bridge has survived for so long?
it's all because of a bird, one bird, an unsung hero, whose vigilance has guarded this California landmark since the days of the Lewis and Clark.
